The Red River Gorge Geological Area is located in Kentucky, about one hour east of Lexington. It has become one of the most popular climbing areas east of the Mississippi. The Gorge is made up of sandstone cliffs that provide climbers of all skill levels the opportunity to enjoy the sport. There are over 3,000 routes and approximately 100 cliffs which sets the Gorge as a premier climbing destination. With grades from 5.4 to 5.14, climbers from around the world can come and test their skills.
